Ann Karine Bourdeau Leduc
Immersion residency
June 25 - August 3, 2025
End-of-residency meeting: Saturday, August 2nd, at 4pm.
Ann Karine Bourdeau Leduc designs sculptural installations incorporating printed images, drawings, found objects, and repurposed construction materials. Her creations are inspired by the principles of architecture and design, while remaining within specific contexts.
She continually develops unconventional recycling strategies to question the origin of objects and explore their sculptural and pictorial potential. Working through sampling, she examines the reproducibility of objects and images via cycles of transformation, generating multiple iterations. Her installations, composed of composite assemblages, rest on a precarious balance, revealing certain artificial aspects of our built environment.
During her six-week residency with Adélard, Ann Karine Bourdeau Leduc developed a new inventory of architectural elements, drawing inspiration from the rural context of Frelighsburg. Her interest focused particularly on often-overlooked architectural remnants. Construction debris, rocks, brick fragments, cedar shingles, and other fragments of local architecture allowed her to create new assemblages, enriching her repertoire of forms, textures, and materials.
