Asma Ben Aissa
Immersion residency
August 5 - September 14, 2025
Review meeting: Saturday, September 13, at 4 p.m.
Asma Ben Aissa's artistic approach revolves around exploring the notion of landscape, which she approaches through textiles, sculpture, painting, and installation. Her work questions the links between built and natural environments, personal experiences, and the transmission of cultural knowledge.
Inspired by the accounts of Tunisian embroiderers, Asma Ben Aissa creates imaginary landscapes of complex materiality where transparency, relief, lines, textures, and forms play off each other. By revisiting textile traditions through a social and philosophical lens, she offers a sensitive reflection on memory, women's heritage, housing, and the female condition. Fabric becomes for her a medium of intimacy, a space for storytelling where individual and collective narratives are woven together.
During his residency at Adélard She will develop a series of textile works inspired by the landscapes of Frelighsburg exchanges with the local community and artisans in the region. These encounters will enrich her research and reflections on how space, both interior and exterior, is conceived as a mental and cultural construct.
