at Studio Adélard
During this creative workshop led by Crystel Pereira, you will learn how to create natural inks from local plants and materials and how to make charcoal sticks.
Discover ink recipes and color extraction techniques from a variety of plants (sumac, goldenrod, black walnut, elderberry, etc.). You will also learn how to modify ink colors using mordants and by altering the pH. Each participant will explore the use of botanical inks and will receive a small bottle of ink to take home.
This workshop will be led by Crystel Pereira, a visual artist living and working in Brome-Missisquoi. Inspired by time spent in the forest, Crystel explores the climate crisis and our relationship with the environment through a decidedly contemporary landscape painting practice. Since 2024, her Jardins d’encres (Ink Gardens) project has allowed her to integrate botanical inks into her artistic process. More information about the artist: click here
